STAGE 1: PORT WAKEFIELD – ANDROSSAN 61KM

Port Wakefield to Ardrossan (60k), Sunday 20th August, 2023. 6am start, 23hr cut off.

This stage will start at the Walk the Yorke trail head in Port Wakefield.

It is on this stage that you will cross the Highway on 2 separate occasions and these crossings will be the busiest highway crossings throught the event.

The trail will consist of some mangrove trails, open country side a little bit of climbing (the highest point of the course at about 130 metres ), farmland and running through some neat little seaside villages along the way including Port Clinton, Price and Tiddy Widdy Beach.

Ardrossan and specifically, the Ardrossan Soldier’s Memorial Hall, will be our home base each year for the S.O.S. opening and welcoming proceedings.

Ardrossan is one of the major centres on the Yorke Peninsula, and is home to about 1200 people. It is a centre for pastoral activity and is most noted for its deepsea port, 1 of 3 on the Yorke.

Check in and race briefing will be held at the hall on the Saturday afternoon and evening. The carpark will be host to food trucks and coffee vans on Saturday during our street running festival and the finish line for the Sunday stage and start line for the Monday stage (stage 2).

Ardrossan will host us on the Saturday AND Sunday nights as it has the facilities to cater for all of us. We will all drive Sunday morning to the Port Wakefield start line.
